FAQs
About clinical supervision
-
Clinical supervision is a structured, reflective practice where you work with an experienced clinician to explore your cases, your clinical reasoning, and your professional development. It is different from line management because it isn’t about performance review or ticking boxes. It is a dedicated space to think, question, and grow as a clinician. Most occupational therapists find supervision valuable at every stage of their career, not just in the early years. If you are managing a complex caseload, navigating a new role, or finding that work is following you home, supervision can help you find your footing again.
-
There is no single right answer as it can depend on your experience level, your caseload, and what you are working through at any given time. Early career OTs often benefit from weekly or fortnightly supervision as they build clinical confidence. More experienced OTs may find monthly supervision fits well as an ongoing reflective practice. At Nurturing Connections OT, supervision is available weekly, fortnightly, or monthly, so you can choose the frequency that suits where you are right now.

Yes. Clinical supervision is recognised by AHPRA as a valid continuing professional development activity. It can contribute to your CPD hours as reflective practice. If you are keeping a CPD log, each supervision session can be recorded along with a brief reflection on what you explored and how it has informed your practice. If you have specific questions about how supervision fits into your CPD requirements, the AHPRA website or your professional association is the best place to confirm the current guidelines.
About working with me
-
I bring over 22 years of paediatric OT clinical experience to every supervision relationship, which means you won't need to spend time explaining the context of your work. Beyond clinical knowledge, my supervision style is grounded in reflective, strengths-based practice and I’m genuinely curious about how you think, not just what you do. I also draw on interoceptive awareness and nervous system concepts in my work, which means supervision here takes your wellbeing seriously alongside your caseload. If you want a supervisor who will challenge your thinking while making you feel genuinely supported, that is what I aim to offer.
-
It depends on the service. My clinical supervision, team supervision, and monthly group supervision are designed specifically for occupational therapists. The Aligned Leader Program (my 12-week group coaching program) is open to all allied health professionals who are navigating leadership roles. If you are unsure whether a particular service is right for you, feel free to get in touch and we can work it out together.

Sessions are held via Zoom and run for 60 minutes. We usually begin with a brief check-in before moving into whatever you have brought to the session. This can include a case, a situation, a question, or sometimes just a feeling that something is not quite right and you are not sure why. Some supervisees come with a clear agenda; others arrive and we work out together where to focus. There is no fixed format because good supervision follows you, not a script. You can expect the session to feel warm and unhurried, and to leave with something useful, whether that is clarity, a different perspective, or simply having felt genuinely heard.
-
The best way to find out is to have a conversation. I offer a free 20-minute discovery call where we can talk about what you are looking for, what I offer, and whether there is a good fit between us. There is no obligation to proceed and no pressure, it’s a chance to get a sense of each other before committing. Supervision works best when there is trust and rapport, so finding the right fit matters as much to me as it does to you.

Yes. My clinical background is in paediatric OT, and I have extensive experience supporting OTs with paediatric caseloads across NDIS, Medicare, and community settings, including those working with young adults with neurodevelopmental disorders. If paediatric work is your focus, you will find supervision here is grounded in the realities of that work and you won't need to provide context before we can get into the substance of what you are navigating.
About the Aligned Leader Program
-
Leadership coaching for occupational therapists is focused support for OTs who have moved, or are moving into leadership roles without formal leadership training. Most OT degrees prepare you to be an excellent clinician, not to manage a team, supervise others, or run a practice. Leadership coaching fills that gap. Rather than generic management theory, it works with the specific pressures of leading in a clinical context — including the emotional weight of caring professions, the complexity of NDIS and private practice environments, and the challenge of holding a leadership role while still carrying a caseload.
-
Clinical supervision focuses on your cases, your clinical reasoning, and your professional growth as a practitioner. The Aligned Leader Program focuses specifically on your leadership - how you manage a team, communicate with colleagues, set boundaries, delegate, and sustain yourself in a leadership role. They are complementary rather than interchangeable. Some clinicians do both; others find the program is exactly what they need right now and supervision can come later. If you are unsure which is the right fit, the discovery call is a good place to work that out.
-
It is worth knowing that the Aligned Leader Program is designed with introverted and thoughtful clinicians in mind. Sessions are facilitated rather than open-floor, which means you will never be put on the spot. Many clinicians find that hearing others name the same challenges they have been carrying is one of the most valuable parts of the program and there is real relief in realising you are not the only one. If you are curious but hesitant, a discovery call is the best next step. We can talk through what the program looks like and whether it feels like a good fit for you.
